This is my first entry for the phases of the moon. It was a cloudy night, but I was still able to see how bright the full moon was. It was in the southeastern part of the sky (azimuth = 105°) and 12° above the horizon. I'll be looking at the moon every few days to watch its complete cycle as it rotates around the Earth.
Interesting, is this the "harvest moon"?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was, because it was the Full Moon closest to the Equinox (Sept. 22). I hadn't realized this until after observing it. I noticed that the Moon had looked a little different than normal, but not in the way you'd typically think of for a Harvest Moon (orange and larger)...it actually seemed smaller than normal to me!
